Happy 2nd Birthday, William!!

We celebrated William Noel's 2nd birthday (can you believe he is already 2??!!) over the weekend. We had an ELMO party and invited his very special friends: Brielle, Gianna, Joseph and Nicholas as well as "Uncle" Ron, Bridget and Belvedere (the dog) to celebrate with us!

Our tired 2-year old waits for his guests to arrive!

The backyard is set up and ready for the big event!

Brielle was the first to arrive, and William and she enjoyed the slide!

Gianna and William examined the Elmo birthday candle!

Joseph and Nicholas arrive for the party!

Suddenly, we heard something on the side of the house... a jazzy rendition of "Happy Birthday"! Then what to our wondrous eyes should appear... none other than "Uncle" Ron playing a trombone solo for William. Then, Bridget and Belvedere arrived with a personalized red wagon... "something every boy his age should have" said "Uncle" Ron.

Daddy took William and Brielle for the inaugural ride around the backyard! That's one happy birthday boy! (and one proud Daddy)

Note the customized vehicle for young William... it says "LaCombe" on the back!

"Warning: I am Two"... so true!

"Uncle" Ron took requests from the crowd... "Twinkle Twinkle" had the young crowd on its little feet!

All the kids loved touching the trombone!

Brielle loved the trombone... she even put her little arm in the bell.

This precious homemade Elmo birthday cake... baked by Mom and decorated by Dad!! Now that's love!

"Happy Birthday, William"
He held onto the platter and stared at the cake!

Nothing like an Elmo cake to focus a group of 2 year olds!!

With trombone accompaniment, all the children gathered to sing "Happy Birthday"! Our birthday boy knew something special was going on... just for him!

Yummy cupcakes... we didn't dare cut the Elmo cake! William cried when Mommy poured the batter in the Elmo cake pan... imagine if we had carved him up ... trauma.

Each little one chose their own cupcake... Elmo red, Cookie Monster blue, or Big Bird yellow... and the results...

Cookie Monster blue for Brielle...

...and for Joseph...

...looks like Cookie Monster blue and Elmo red!!!

Oh William... on your arms too!!

After the post-cupcake clean-up period, the Elmo pinata was revealed! Gianna is so excited!! She hugged it repeatedly!

Of course, rounding up the kids was a challenge... David chases Joseph while Kara chases Nicholas!

Notice the other kids are elsewhere!!

They loved the goodies from the pinata -- raisins, suckers, stickers, rings!

We had a wonderful time sharing this day with William's special friends! We were exhausted, but it was so worth it!!
