Putt-Putt Golf and Dinner with the Zakurs

We've been looking forward to visiting with Dave's high-school friend, Steve Zakur, and his family for a while. This past Saturday, the Zakurs visited for a round of putt-putt golf and dinner.

Pictured L to R are: Anne, Chris (foreground), Stephen (background), Samuel, KC, Will, and DML.

Chris and Sam demonstrated their exceptional golfing skills while also maintaining a quick, if not endless, trot all over the course - they even gave Will a few pointers. The rest of us mostly tried to cheat with dignity and little fanfare.

Dinner at Bugaboo Creek was filled with good conversation, delicious meals, and even a talking moose. We posed for a party-pic near the over-sized Mounty and promised to get together again soon.

We're looking forward to our next visit with our friends, the Zakurs.

Giving thanks in Goodman with Family

A special thank you goes out to our family for a wonderful Thanksgiving Day. The perfect weather and endless plates of yummy treats set the tone for a fun day of visiting and play.

May everyone have a safe and happy holiday!

Party pic - I almost captured everyone. Missing are Justin (you can see his shoulder behind Gretchen), Chloe (her hot pink sleeve is in front of Gretchen), Grandpoppy Covington (actually his hand is holding onto Grandmommy Covington... does that count?), and Miss Anna is hiding behind little Anna!!

Here are a few candid snapshots of our week in Mississippi - for more images visit the Covington Family Blog (see link on this website).

Will flirts with stewardess

I saw her in the galley when we first made eye contact. She offered an obligatory smile but I sensed that there was something more between us besides cola and pretzels.

Our next encounter occurred at thirty thousand feet. I was relaxing in my coach-class cattle stall when she slipped me some specialty crackers - my suspicions were confirmed...she really liked me.

From this point on, we were inseparable. I ditched my parents and toured the plane with my date - the Delta Airline Stewardess. Good thing my Daddy had Mommy to keep him company - I know he gets nervous when flying.

We danced and laughed as the hours passed - each of us knew that this affair would never last, but at that moment neither of us cared.

I slipped back to my seat just as my in-air love had to announce our final approach to the airport - the lipstick on my collar and cheek probably confirmed my whereabouts for the flight.

Ah...the joy of flying as a baby bachelor.

Uncle Chad Visits New York

Dave's good friend, Chad, visited our home the weekend before Thanksgiving. Dave and Chad began their annual planning for the international paramedic competition they coordinate.

William Noel offered input on the care of toddlers as potential scenario ideas - Kathryn kept the boys well fed and a good time was had by all.

LaCombes travel to Baltimore

Hello people - William Noel here.

When I heard that my Daddy was traveling to Baltimore I suggested to Mommy that we join him. After all, he's always getting lost on his business trips. Mommy and I vowed to keep him out of trouble.

We ventured to Baltimore last Friday - leisurely driving, enjoying coffee and viewing the cool fall colors. I mostly napped - occasionally, I listened to my parents talk about stuff. I'm still trying to figure out what "baby-sitter" and "extended vacation" mean. I really need a dictionary.

So anyway...here are a few highlights from the trip.

Go dolphins - Go!

Hmm...these drawers are spacious.

I convinced my parents to add some culture to their lives. We visited the gravesite of Edgar Allan Poe...yes the famous writer. I even bought a book of Poe's greatest works, including The Raven. We read The Raven on the ride home. Did you know that the Baltimore Ravens, NFL team, are named after Poe's poem?
