Fishing with Grand-Poppy
This weekend I persuaded my parents to take me to Mississippi for much needed R and R. The daily pressures at daycare were mounting and I was longing to try out my new fishing pole.
Not 20 minutes after I asked for a roadtrip did my Daddy have the Pathfinder packed, fueled, and ready to hit the trail. Mommy packed some treats for our rolling picnic - yum!
So, getting to the point...ah hem...the fishing was the highlight of my excursion. After investing a few quality moments reviewing rod and tackle with my experienced guide (Grand-Poppy), we walked to the pond. Mommy, Daddy and the puppies tagged along. I didn't mind their company just as long as they were quiet - scaring the fish was not an option.
The pond was beautiful as ever and my keen fisherman instincts told me that the bass would be all over my new lure (whatever that means?!).
After only a few casts, Grand-Poppy landed the biggest fish I've ever seen. Come to think of it...this was the first fish I ever saw, but....anyways...check out this man-eater...
Grand-Poppy and I decided to throw the fish back - but I'll be back later to catch him when he's big enough to fill Mommy's skillet with a couple of filets. Bon Appetit my Florida Bass friend!
After fishing, I asked Mommy to carry me back to the house...I was just too tired to make the walk and I was way overdue for a nap. Thank you for my first fishing trip - I'm already looking to the next outing. Until then...good luck and tight lines!
