Gorgeous Mother's Day Weekend

After a rainy week, the weekend weather was beautiful! So, we headed outdoors to do some of our favorite things... baseball and hiking.

We're getting ready to cheer Army onto victory. The boys are downing a couple of dogs and cold ones (well...water and juice but at least they were cold).

William seems to be thinking... Mom, not another picture...

Go Army!!! The baseball team actually lost the first game of the doubleheader. So much for being their good luck charms!

On Sunday, we packed a picnic (William says, "picadinin") and headed to the Vanderbilt Mansion for a hike and "picadinin".

We were at the end of the 2.5 mile hike. The grounds around the mansion are beautiful but we were ready to eat!!

William smiled as he said, "Happy Mother's Day!" for this photo.

Finally, our picnic. William was exhausted during the hike, but after a couple of morsels entered his tummy, he was up and running again!!

He's a dipper... loves to dip his food!

Tackling Mommy!! Happy Mother's Day!!

"Go down the driveway"

Young William is just now getting to enjoy his Christmas gift from Uncle Ron and "Bridges". They gave him his first bike, and he has only been able to toy around with it during the winter months.

With spring officially here, William asked to ride his bike on the driveway last night. So, Daddy got it out of the garage and Mommy grabbed the camera!

William made several discoveries about his bike:
  • He can "walk it" around while sitting on it.
  • He can lift his feet and coast down the slight decline at the end of the driveway... while chanting "go down driveway" and "look at William."
  • He can pedal. Yes, it true!! He now pedals his bike ... see the video below! (It's only 9 seconds but you get to see him pedal and then coast down the driveway!)

PS. We have a firefighter bike helmet for him... we bought it at Christmastime. We bought one for 5 year olds. Well... now it's too small. Gotta get a new one!

Touring Orange County Choppers

Paul Jr is on the left - I'm the handsome one in the Soccer Shirt.

My Dad's been traveling a whole lot lately. So, when the ol' man came home early today I decided to treat him and Mom with a visit to Orange County Choppers.

Despite popular belief, OCC is located in New York, not California. Founded by Paul Teutul Sr. in 1999, OCC gained notoriety with the debut of their first bike "True Blue" at the Bike Fest in Daytona. In 2002, the Discovery Channel began filming the popular TV series American Chopper.

The new OCC headquarters and showroom celebrated its grand opening last weekend. I couldn't make the event but I sent my regards to the Teutals. Maybe I'll appear as a special guest on a future episode of the show. I'm sure I'd have a positive impact on the ratings.

The OCC building is a modern architecture with the company's logo etched into the huge glass storefront. The store has many of the famous bikes on display including the Firefighter Bike, the POW Bike, and bikes for the New York Yankees and Giants.

Paul Jr. being interviewed by the Discovery Channel
We were in the showroom when we heard the roar of motorcycles. Our heads whipped around; we looked out the window to see Paul Jr. cruising by towards the rear of the building. I've never seen my Mom move so fast. We concluded our tour and creeped towards the spot where Pauly was being interviewed on camera. When the filming stopped, Pauly accepted our offer for a party-pic. My Dad's hand trembled as he took the pic. The rest, as they say...is history.

The Firefighter Bike is amazing. Note the patches pinned to the wall from public safety departments.

The New York Giants Bike - The headlight looks like a football...very cool!

Me and my Mom...she's the best!

Me and my Dad enjoying some guy time. Go Yankees!
So, having a little bit of celebrity in our backyard is just one more reason for friends and family to visit us in New York (shameless plea...but hey...you people are not responding to my subtle hints).
C'mon up and visit soon!
Love, William Noel
