Farm Fun

We had two weeks of perfect Spring weather... warm, crystal clear sky, and loads of sunshine. One of our favorite places is a local farm. The farm itself is preparing for growing season. But, we ventured there with our friends to play in the village and to see the animals.

William and Brielle wanted to go for a walk in the orchard. Alone? Sort of, the moms were right behind them!

This little couple wandered over to the stables to feed the horses some grass. Actually, they pulled up grass and tossed it toward the horses.

"Don't sit under the apple tree... with anyone else but me!" William is so happy!!

I think we are going to use this shot in their wedding video.

William wanted to get close to the horses... until the horses got close to us! So we headed back to the village for more playtime.

William's favorite spot!

Our friend Joseph... getting ready to slide down the fire station slide.

What teamwork!
Note that William is really drawn to anything fire truck related!!

Nicholas... a man on a mission... cupcake in hand!

We tried to get a group shot of all the kids and their cupcakes. Notice who is not in the photo?

Mr. Independent headed to the little church to eat his cupcake.

Then, he locked himself in jail. After the icing was gone, he abandoned the cupcake. Joseph finished it for him!

Big Truck Day

A recent Tuesday was a very special day for William. He and Mommy attended "Big Truck Day" with some of our friends. We caravaned across the river so that all the boys could play on the big trucks. William was the last guy standing. One group had to exit and turn around before we got to the event. Another group couldn't take the waiting in line. Then, there is William. Big Trucks are his life, his world, his raison d'etre. We stayed until the last truck rolled away!

Our first truck of the day... of course, it was the fire truck. William is sitting on the back taking in the moment.

Someone is intently listening to the firefighter explain that the nozzle William is touching is where the truck is connected to the hydrant in order to pump the water into the hose for fighting a fire. (Mommy was listening too!)

"It's true... I am standing in front of my very favorite truck of all time."

William and his friend Frankie sitting on the front bumper. We spent quite a bit of time at the fire truck!

Over to the scoop... whoa, look at this thing... Bob the Builder could really use this!

OH my gosh... a school bus... "stop for the children," William said. We were able to go on board, sit in the driver's seat, honk the horn, and then sit in the student seats. A glory moment for one little boy!

Whoa, big digger! William loved running in the bucket!!

I need a break... this looks like a good place to rest for a moment.

William could hardly wait to drive the tractor. He laughed and said, "tractor tipping." If you saw Disney's Cars movie you'll understand!

Dad, I think I need a motorcycle. Cop said I was a natural...

We ventured back to the.... fire truck... you guessed it!!

"Can you believe I am sitting in a real fire truck???"

He is just taking in the moment!!

We spent a brief moment running through the mail truck before heading over to watch the parade!

A tired truck admirer watching the trucks roll by... "bye fire truck, bye digger, bye snow plow."

An interesting bit of trivia: The one truck that William did not want to explore... an ambulance. Go figure!

A day in little boy heaven!!

Work and Play

Saturday's theme for the boys was "work and play." They spent the previous night hauling rocks to our neighbor's house. We are dismantling our retaining wall, and our neighbor is building his... don't ask. Anyway, the boys have been very busy hauling rocks and digging in the dirt.

Another load delivered by two handsome wheelbarrow drivers.

William loves, LOVES, LOVES to shovel dirt. He can literally do this for hours.

And when you dig in the dirt you find... earthworms. Mommy is showing one to a little boy who is less than impressed.

Now it's play time!!! We headed to our backyard for a picnic! The boys started stealing each others baseball caps and tickling. Lots of laughter....

In between assaults, Mommy got a great photo of the boys!!

Busy Boy!

So what exactly has young William been doing lately, you ask????

Sitting in the new reading corner in his playroom... he loves his new chair!

Supervising the "big digger" that was working on the drainage on our road. Note William's construction equipment is ready for action, if needed.

Intense concentration

Playing in the sunshine with his friend Brielle in our backyard

Sharing cupcakes with his friend Angela at a playdate

First ice cream cone of the season!

Playing on a hiking trail with Mommy and Daddy

"Reach!!!"

"Dad, we have to stay on the Red trail, see....?"

End of the hike photo at Minnewaska State Park

Must be his Mississippi roots... William loves tractors!!! We had to go to Lowe's for yet another home improvement project, and Will and Daddy spent a considerable amount of time sitting on each and every lawn mower/tractor!

We had to have our driveway resurfaced. Once again, William employed his own equipment (dump truck and wheelbarrow) to help the workers!

At a recent park playdate with some new friends...

Well, that covers the last two weeks... what a busy boy!!

LaCombes Hear a Who

"A person's a person, no matter how small."
Horton the Elephant
Our plans to go hiking today changed when the weather did not warm as predicted. So, we cruised over to the theatre to check out the movie adaptation of Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who.
The plot is about Horton the Elephant's struggle to protect a microscopic community from his neighbors who refuse to believe it exists.
The animation is fantastic, the story is classic, and there are plenty of laughs for both kids and parents.
William sat at the edge of his chair eating popcorn and shouting "The elephant has bushy eyebrows!"
KC and David mostly stared lovingly at William and secretly pulled excessively long eyebrow hairs...not wanting to be the next subject of ridicule from the eyebrow police.

"New Place"

What a morning! We met friends at a new indoor play place -- huge fun jumps with slides, ball pits, dinosaurs, basketball! Perfect for little boys to burn energy... and that Mr. William did! After playing for 2 1/2 hours, we headed to a special lunch with our friends!

After eating chicken fingers, fries, and a Candy Store ice cream sundae, one little boy fell asleep in the car with his balloon still in hand... while Mommy was in the Starbucks drive-thru!! But, before his eyes closed, he said, "I like new place."

Playing in the toddler area... getting warmed up!

Move over John Travolta, this little boy loved the disco dance floor!

Shooting hoops was fun too... Mommy made quite a few one-handed layups!

Then, William entered the fun jump/ball pit! He typically does not like bouncy houses. But, he warmed up to the idea when he saw all the balls!!

Now that his fear was conquered, he climbed into a huge fun jump with a slide. Here he is climbing up so he can slide down!!

Sliding down...
William went first, then Mommy followed. That was quite a sight to behold! Then, he went solo - again and again and again.

See that little boy on the white slide... it's William!

Before we left for lunch, he had to play for a few more minutes in the ball pit/fun jump.

"I'm not doing anything."

Then, the cannon balls began... he loved that!!

At lunch with our friends... do you see the tired boy with the NY Yankees hat?

Table #2

In the Starbucks drive-thru... with balloon in hand... face covered in chocolate syrup from the sundae... moments before he passed out!!
