Family Day in San Diego
After a week of meetings and meetings and meetings, we decided that David needed a day of family fun! So, we headed out early... without a cup of Starbucks (go figure!?!)... and explored San Diego. We started our day at the world famous San Diego Zoo.
These beautiful flamingos greeted us!
The elephants made quite an impression on William... he repeatedly told us how they "made a mess"!
One of the big attractions is the pandas... we saw the newest panda cub as well as other full grown pandas. All are on loan from China.

We spent some time at the Children's Petting Zoo... William was excited to pet the goats.
We left the zoo around noon and headed to Coronado. We saw the Hotel Del Coronado and drove past the Navy Seal training area until we got to the SW most point in the United States. It was there that we finally got a cup of Starbucks... thank goodness! On our drive back to San Diego, we stopped at Silver Strand Beach. It was just gorgeous. We ran on the beach, searched for sand dollars, which we found but crumbled in the luggage on the trip home :(.
After playing on the beach, we piled in the car and headed back to San Diego. As we drove back to our hotel in the late afternoon, Dave said, "I don't want to go back." Kathryn replied, "Me either... let's go tour the Midway." So, off we went...
We started our tour... Mommy had to get control of the boys... so she threw them in the Brig for a little "time out."
Back in the hangar, Dave tries out a WWII era plane... this brought out the little boy in him... as did the Tomcat flight simulator he did before we left!!
